  • MCOA Fall 2022 Newsletter

  • Fellow Members and Officials –
As I write this message during Sports Officials Appreciation week it seems most appropriate to express gratitude and thanks to all of our members who makes high school competition possible by providing our services. We do this for a lot of reasons to include the camaraderie of working with our fellow members, making some extra money, getting exercise, etc. The biggest reasons we do this though is for the love of the game and our desire to give back to the game and community based on the positive impact sports has made in our lives. It is not easy to be a Ref, Umpire, or Official and it takes a special person to do what we do.

Congratulations and much thanks to the entire MCOA family for a very successful 2021-2022 season.
In other news, the MCOA has also been able to return the sport of Boys Lacrosse to our membership. Javier Mazza has been appointed as the interim leader of this sport and will be recommending an individual to be the interim commissioner until a formal election can be held.
Last, but not least – we have officially established the MCOA Hall of Fame. Please visit the website to see who is in the inaugural class. There will be much more to come on the Hall of Fame in the coming weeks so please stay tuned.
The General Officers and sports commissioners are here to serve you as we work together and strive to make the MCOA the best officials sports association in the state of Florida.

    Happy New Year!
As we roll in 2022, I think it is important to first look back and simply say “thank you” to everyone in the MCOA for all that you did to make 2021 a resounding success. Our success is a tribute to each of you who continue to make such a tremendous positive impact in support of high school sports in our area.
It is your love of the game, and desire to always serve the sports you officiate with the utmost professionalism and integrity that makes these experiences for the student-athletes possible. It takes a special kind of person to do what you do!

  • MCOA Fall 2021 Newsletter

  • Fellow Members and Officials
On behalf of the Executive Council, I wanted to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation for a very successful 2020-2021 for the Mid-Coast Officials Association – or MCOA. In very trying times, all of our officials rose to the COVID challenge. Not one game in the Fall, Winter, or Spring Sports seasons was postponed or canceled due to unavailability of officials!
We ask that you get active on the social media pages to post pictures of our crews and member sin action. Have fun with it and please do your part to be an ambassador for sports officiating and the MCOA as we seek to recruit new officials to our organization. Of course, please remember, we as officials must always refrain from discussing anty calls we make in a game we officiate with members of the media at any time – which includes social media platforms.
